Geocache Description:

English:

The Erermitage Castle (often Eremitagen) is a royal palace in Jægersborg Dyrehave north of Copenhagen, located at the highest point on the Eremitage slate. The castle was built by architect Lauritz de Thurah from 1734 to 1736 for King Christian 6. As a place where the king under his parforce hunt could hold a dinner party.

The Hermitage Castle is currently owned by the state and is made available to the royal house. It is thus used by the queen and the royal family for royal hunts and in connection with the annual Hubertus hunt.

Hermitage has never been thought of as a residence, but simply as a place where the king, during his parforce hunting, could stay and hold a dinner. In both the present castle and the predecessor there was previously a "Dinner machine" that could lift the covered table up from the basement to the dining room so that the king and his guests could have dinner without servants, or "en ermitage" (in loneliness) The name of the castle.
