Day-tripping in AylesBowie?
Inside the historic market square you find the monumental statue of rock icon David Bowie – billed as the world’s first such monument to the late singer in the town where he introduced his fans to Ziggy Stardust.
Titled “Earthly Messenger,” the statue in the market square shows an amused-looking Bowie casting an eye at the various personae he adopted throughout his career. Speakers above the bronze sculpture play a different Bowie song every hour. Aylesbury was once home to Friars, the venue where Bowie first performed as Ziggy Stardust and debuted two of his albums.
To claim this virtual cache you must visit David and Ziggy personally and post a photo in your log of yourself and/or your GPS device posing with David. Before you get too silly just remember the statue has its own webcam (Earthly Messenger Webcam), which incidentally could be used to take your photo, but remember Bowie fans from all over the globe will be watching you!!! Interesting point of historic note, there is a nearby plaque with links to a local cacher, who helped tremendously with the placement of this virtual. Many thanks HHHP20 and your ancestors!
