One of the events that just happened recently is the unveiling of a new mural in downtown Ventura portraying the history of the past 100+ years of Ventura. It is 9-1/2 feet tall and 48 feet long and made with individually fired tiles put together to create a colorful, detailed story of Ventura.
Ventura has become a mecca for artists, with special areas set aside for the arts. One of the things I've noticed is there are a lot of murals on buildings. This mural is not on a building, but a wall built specifically for it. This mural took about three years to complete due to various delays. The history of this mural can be found in this VC Star article. To claim a find for this virtual please take a photo of yourself (or your GPSr and some part of your body if you don't want your face in the picture) in front of your favorite part of the mural. That may be difficult and take some time because it's 48 feet of amazing detail. 😋
Send me, via E-mail, answers to the following questions (some answers are "buried" in the mural):
0. Why did you pick that portion of the mural?
1. How many members in the blue band?
2. How many years does this mural cover? (it's written on a newspaper)
3. What do think is the last historical event depicted?
4. There is another mural, about 110 yards south on Figueroa Street Mall, on the east side. Briefly describe what it represents.
You can post a find with your picture, as long as the answers follow within 48 hours. If not the log will be deleted.
