Geocache Description:

There is NO physical geocache at this location. These coordinates will bring you to a filming location from the 1973 James Bond Film ‘Live and Let Die’. The requirements for logging this cache are listed at the bottom of the page.

In the opening of the eighth James Bond film, Live and Let Die, the audience is introduced to three MI6 agents who are investigating the operations of the mysterious Dr. Kananga (A.K.A. Mr. Big). One of the agents is Hamilton (played by Robert Dix) who is keeping an eye on the Fillet of Soul restaurant located in New Orleans’s French Quarter.

While monitoring the activity around the restaurant, which is later revealed to be one of Mr. Big’s many heroin distribution centers, a jazz funeral procession makes it way around the corner of Dumaine Street and heads south down Chartres Street.

As the procession passes by Hamilton, another man, played by Thomas Valentine, steps up to the curb to pay his respects to the grieving family.

“Whose funeral is it?” asks Hamilton.

The new man pulls out a knife and responds. “Yours.”

The man delivers a fatal blow and Hamilton’s lifeless body falls into the street. The pallbearers approach Hamilton and slowly lower the coffin onto the body. When the coffin is lifted back up, the body has disappeared.

There is a sudden mood change as the music and atmosphere burst into a lively cacophony. The once grieving procession proceeds to dance their way down the street as Mr. Big’s men carry away the unwanted British spy.

How to log this cache:

Now that Hamilton has fallen into the hands of the notorious gangster Mr. Big, James Bond and M are seeking your help to continue his mission. Follow the posted coordinates and snap a picture of yourself at Hamilton’s last known location (HINT: Look at the placement of the fire hydrant in the first picture on this page for reference) and post it in your log. If you are afraid of your secret identity being revealed to Mr. Big and his cronies, there is no need to show your face. However, if you choose not to be in the photo you must give some unique indication that you were at the specified location (for example include your GPS, your shoe or a thumbs up in the picture). Report any suspicious activity that you may witness at this location in your log and if you happen to hear the sounds of a jazz parade nearby, make sure to watch your back. Your country is relying on you.

Good luck agent!

Bonus: If you look across the street and up at the balconies, near the location where the Fillet of Soul set was constructed, you can find the balcony where the late Roger Moore watched over the filming of this scene.
