The Minden Lookout is one of the best scenic views in the Bay of Plenty. Situated at the top of the Minden, it looks out onto the entire BOP and offers a stunning picturesque view of the Mount, Tauranga, the Harbour, Omokoroa and the various islands dotted far beyond.
This is an easy cache to grab as the lookout it built just above the road, and both parking and picnic tables are available for use.
The lookout was first built by the Omokoroa - Te Puna Lions Club, and has been since then handed onto the Tauranga City Council. This ambitious project was a community effort, and took just under 2000 hours to construct as members volunteered on a voluntary basis. Many businesses and the public gave discounts to allow the lookout to be built and for them to do it all on a budget of $3500 over 21 months. Please respect the work that has been done to allow this view to be preserved for the public, and dispose of all rubbish to the bins to allow future tourists (and cachers!) to see this view for themselves.
This cache is different to most others, most notably in the fact that there isn't a physical cache at the posted Coords! Instead the cache its self it the location and so to log this cache you must answer two questions that you can find the answers to at the cache location.
1. On the Map, what number is the Minden lookout?
2. What does the North indicator arrow point to?
3. (Extra for experts): When was the Lookout constructed?

You can post your log before I confirm your answers, but if you provide me incorrect answers I will remove your post, as I will gather that you have not actually gone to the Lookout.

I have found that most virtuals are out of reach of most people, either on a lone island or middle of a forrest, so my aim is that this virtual geocache will allow anyone to log and experience the unique "Virtual Geocache." I am humbled with the opportunity to be able to place one of these limited caches, so I hope you enjoy!
