Welcome to Wilmington's "Virtual Ghost Hunt!" This charming southern town was settled way back in the early 1700's and a surprising number of the historic homes and buildings still survive today. In fact we have one of the largest National Register Historic Districts in NC. Through it's history as a bustling port city, Wilmington has survived wartime occupations, murderous pirates, deadly epidemics, and all of the typical savage behavior one would expect in a port town full of drunken sailors. In turn, today it is one of the most actively haunted cities in the south! Wilmington's haunted history is embraced and celebrated by the people who live here, and this Virtual Ghost Hunt is being placed to introduce you to a few of our ....favorite "old haunts"! In fact, in order to log this cache, you will have to hunt down more than a couple of our resident ghouls... so use caution, and watch out for things that go bump in the night!

Logging Requirements
To get credit for this cache you will have to let the spirits of Wilmington be your guide! You will be required to hunt down a total of five unique ghosts/haunts to claim your smiley. The special tool required for this Virtual, is a smartphone, or internet access of some kind. You will need this in order to progress and gather the clues required for logging. Each ghost or haunt that you track down will provide you with a unique clue once you have successfully hunted it. In order to claim a find and log this Virtual, you must send a private email, or private message via the message center, to the CO with the names of whichever five haunts you have found and their unique secret clues... or your log will just vanish, much like a ghost.... poof... into thin air!
Hunting for Hauntings
To begin your Virtual Ghost Hunt, you must start by visiting the posted coordinates. This will place you in front of one of the most haunted cemeteries in North Carolina! You will find yourself on the corner near a historical marker. The marker itself specifically names two well known "residents" of the nearby cemetery, one of whom will lead you to the first spirit you are hunting. To discover the ghost you are hunting for, you will need to look closely in the corner of the cemetery near where you stand, for the gravestone of the first of the two men named on this historical marker. Once you have located the gravestone, you will be using info from this gravestone to adjust your current coordinates and find the ghost you seek.
Take the two digit number of the day this man died, reverse the digits, and use them as the last two digits of the North coords. Take the two digit number of the age of this man, reverse the digits, and use them as the last two digits of the West coords. Once you have the new coordinates, make your way to these new coordinates and click here to get the secret code.
