Welcome to the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden (formerly known as the National Rhododendron Garden).
The garden is open 10.00am to 5.00pm daily (last entry 4.30pm) except Christmas Day. Entrance to the garden is free.
This is a great place to visit all year around, with each season offering something different. There are lots of trees and flowers from all over the world located in the park. Lyrebirds inhabit the grounds and can easily be spotted if you keep your ears open for them scratching around underneath trees. There are even a couple of red telephone booths if you can find them! Nearby to the cache is a grove of cherry trees that blossom between mid-September and early October. This promises to be an amazing sight and not to be missed if you are in the area.
At the posted co-ordinates you will find yourself at Serenity Point. Enjoy the views out to the Yarra Ranges, and take a minute to enjoy the serenity. So much serenity.
To claim this virtual cache you must answer a simple question. Turn around and there is a shelter at this lookout:
- How many columns are holding up this shelter?
Please send me (Paul) the answer via email or the messaging system before or at the time of logging. You may log your visit immediately. I may not respond.
It would be good (but not required) if you could also post a photo of something interesting you saw within the gardens. It could be a bird, a flower, or a piece of art.
The cache is wheelchair accessible, although there is a steeper section that would be tricky to climb if you don't have assistance. More information is on this Parks Victoria page
