Der Name Egregy geht auf ein mittelalterliches Dorf zurück. Die hier angesiedelten Winzer und Wirtshäuser bewahren bis heute die Tradition des Weinbaus. Heute ist es ein Ortsteil von Hévíz. Auf dem Hügel befindet sich eine echte Perle der Stadt, die kleine Kirche aus der Árpádenzeit aus dem 13. Jahrhundert. Sie ist umgeben von einem alten Friedhof und weitläufigen Weingärten mit herrlichem Ausblick auf die Umgebung.
Die Egregyer Kirche wurde 1341 erstmals schriftlich erwähnt und ist eine von drei noch erhaltenen Kirchen aus der Árpádenzeit in der Balaton-Region. Sie ist eine der ältesten Kirchen Ungarns und ein typisches Beispiel für die kleinen Dorfkirchen der damaligen Zeit. Ihr Grundriss geht auf alte Formen der Holzbaukunst zurück. Der dreistöckige Turm hat in jedem Stock Zwillings- bzw. Drillingsfenster und wird mit einer besonderen Spitzhaube abgeschlossen, die durch acht Holzbalken gestützt wird.
Nach starken Beschädigungen im 16. und 17. JH wurde sie 1731 in der Barockzeit renoviert und umgebaut. Die mittelalterliche Form der Kirche blieb erhalten. Es wurden lediglich innen und außen Ornamentbänder angebracht, das Kirchenschiff erhöht und das Gewölbe restauriert. Das Gewölbe des Turmes wurde im 18. Jahrhundert erneuert. Ihm schließt sich ein viereckiges Kirchenschiff aus pannonischem Sandstein an. An der Außenfassade sind die gemalten Verzierungen erhalten geblieben.
Auf der Südseite befindet sich eine Tür aus der Barockzeit. Zu den wenigen Zierelementen im Inneren der Kirche zählt eine Nischenreihe an der nördlichen Wand. Die gemalten Fresken stammen nicht aus dem Mittelalter, sondern sind Motive der traditionellen regionalen Volkskunst. Im Gebäude befinden sich außerdem Teile eines Taufbeckens aus der romanischen Zeit sowie ein mittelalterliches geweihtes Kreuz.

Hévíz városának egyik külvárosa az egykori Egregy község Árpád-kori templomáról nevezetes, a város igazi gyöngyszeme. A kis templom a dombtetőn áll egy idilli sétaút végén, körülötte a régi temető, számos nagy szőlőskert gyönyörű kilátással.
Pontos építési ideje nem ismert. 1341-ben említik írásos emlékek először, és a balatoni Árpád-kori három fennmaradt templom egyike. Magyarország egyik legrégebbi temploma és egy tipikus példa az akkori kis falusi templomokról.
Az épület a 16.-17. században erősen megsérült, később a barokk korban, 1731-ben renoválták, de a templom középkori formája megmaradt. A pannon homokkőből készült templom különlegessége a nyolcszögű, ún. csürlős sisakkal fedett torony. Az épület belsejében román korból származó keresztelő medence töredéke található, valamint egy középkori felszentelt kereszt. Falfestése nem középkori eredetű, a népi formakincs tiszteletét mutatja be.

The name Egregy goes back to a medieval village. The winemakers and inns that are settled here still preserve the tradition of winegrowing. Today it is a district of Hévíz. On the hill is a real pearl of the city, the church from the 13th century. It is surrounded by an old cemetery and extensive vineyards with a wonderful view of the surroundings.
The exact date of the construction of the church is unknown. It was first mentioned in documentation dating from 1341 and is one of three remaining churches from the Árpád period in the Balaton region. It is one of the oldest churches in Hungary and a typical example of small village churches of the time. The floor plan is based on old forms of wooden architecture. The three-storey tower has twin resp. triplet windows in each floor and is finished with a special pointed hood, which is supported by eight wooden beams.
After severe damage in the 16th and 17th century, it was renovated and rebuilt in 1731 in the Baroque period. The medieval form of the church was preserved. Only the inside and outside ornament bands were attached, the nave was raised and the vault was restored. The vault of the tower was renewed in the 18th century. It is followed by a square church nave of Pannonian sandstone. The painted facings on the outer wall have been preserved.
On the south side is a door from the Baroque period. Among the few ornamental elements inside the church is a niche row on the northern wall. The painted frescoes are not from the Middle Ages but are motifs of traditional regional folk art. The building also contains parts of a baptismal font from the Roman period, as well as a medieval consecrated cross.
