Geocache Description:

Here is some history of Fejervary park.
Nicholas Fejervary was a Hungarian Nobleman who came to Davenport as a refuge in 1853 following a failed insurrection in Hungary. The park is the site of his estate, he chose the site for his home because the view of the Mississippi River reminded him of his home on the Danube River. All that remains of his home now is the carriage barn. His daughter Celestine Fejervary gave the property to the City. A zoo was added to the park in 1909, which became known as Mother Goose Land, there was also Monkey Island, and an old West Village with simulated gold panning. Unfortunately the park closed in 2008. The park has reopened as an interactive learning area. It features a huge sandbox with buried fossils, climbing rocks, music area, water area, a G-scale train, a vegetable and flower garden. The Mother Goose structure still stands to welcome you into the area. The 75 acre park also includes a playground, an aquatic center and picnic areas. The The parks eco-learning center is open April-October Hours Tu-Fr 10-6 Sa 10-5
