The Dugald Mackenzie Rose Garden in the Victoria Esplande is our favourite spot in Palmerston North. The esplande is open from dawn to dusk so don't try this at night time.
Take a trip here for the afternoon. Enjoy a walk around the rose garden where you find roses blooming the majority of the year and then visit the aviary, tropical plant house or have a drink in the esplanade cafe. And if you have children with you the esplande play park is fantastic and is just a few mins walk to the other side of the esplande (or get on the mini train!!) It's a really beautiful spot to spend a few hours.
To log this cache climb to the top of the viewing platform (if you are unable to get up the steps, from either side is fine) and take a photo of how the pond and roses look today, then attach this to your log. In winter the roses are not their best! But it is still a beautiful location.
