Geocache Description:

This cache is one in a series that crosses the Isthmus Of Chignecto -- I.O.C. -- which spans the Northumberland Strait and Bay of Fundy, connecting Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Many of the caches are along the former Chignecto Ship Railway line (see GC5HP5P (click) for the history of this fascinating Canadian endeavour. Other cache placements are along back-roads and trails in the nearby Chignecto Isthmus Wilderness Area (CIWA) (click), a 3,750 hectare area of wetlands conifer and mixed forests. The Chignecto Isthmus is a critical land bridge to the rest of North America and provides an essential natural corridor enabling movement of species (moose, bear, lynx) in and out of Nova Scotia.

All cache containers are small and winter-friendly. Attributes & ratings pertain to the series as a whole.

Most of the trail(s) and roads will be wet and muddy in the spring and after rain, buggy in the spring and summers, but great in the fall and a nice snowshoe/cross-country ski/snowmobile in the winter.
