Geocache Description:

Over 5 years ago, I went looking for some caches in Letchworth State Park with Zilt Pitorg, who introduced me to geocaching.  Imagine our surprise when looking for Gibsonville Doublet, GC7F6, hidden by Road Kill, to find it was an early Multi-cache, instead of a simple Traditional!  I have included much of his description below (that has been archived for a few years).

Located in Letchworth State Park near the Perry entrance, this cache uses part of one of the parks longer hiking trails that skirts the vanished village of Gibsonville and extends along the Silver Lake outlet down to the Genesee River. This area is often driven by and ignored but there is much to see. for more information about the park in general, visit “www.letchworthpark.com” or call the visitor center (585) 493-3600. The saving grace is that the terrain is very easy and in fact part of the trail is mowed. Aside from the cache there is much to find; three small falls, a large falls with a double drop, the stone remains of building foundations, a standing stone chimney, a well and other evidence of a community that once was. So, please bring your camera! Not to the scale of the main Genesee gorge, the Silver Lake outlet is a gorge with its own personality. All this, within a half-mile walk. The goodies are nice but the adventure of the hunt and the sites along the way are the real treasure.  This iteration of the cache should be winter accessible.

Parking is somewhat provided with ample wide gravel shoulders and to see three to four cars there is normal.

At WP1, you are looking for a small container with coordinates and a key.  You will need the key to open the box at the final.  PLEASE REPLACE THE KEY after finding the final.

There is room for some small trinkets in the final container.

* * Please replace as good or better than you found it! Cache should NOT be completely exposed for non-cachers to find! **

Thanks to Roland Beck for reviewing the cache and allowing us to cache in this park!  Permit # 85.

Also thanks to Paleoman for reviewing this cache for the park manager! He will log on-line AFTER the FTF has been published.
