La leggenda narra che su una sponda dell'antico torrente che bagnava il Castello di Domagnano, un mugnaio avesse costruito il suo mulino, grazie al quale riusciva a sfamare le sue tre figlie.
Un giorno il vecchio mugnaio, sentendo che la sua ora era vicina, chiamó le figlie a sé dicendo loro:" Figliole i miei giorni sono ormai giunti al termine e altra eredità non ho da offrirvi che questo malandato mulino, vi prego di prendervene sempre cura con amore e in armonia le une con le altre".
Le figlie giurarono allora al padre che avrebbero continuato la sua opera e pochi giorni dopo la solenne promessa il vecchio mugnaio spirò.
Le tre si divisero i compiti: la maggiore raccoglieva le spighe, quella di mezzo le macinava e la piú piccola iniziò a produrre del pane. Dopo pochi mesi tutta San Marino inizió ad amare il pane sfornato dalla figlia minore, tant'è che persino il figlio del capitano di castello di Domagnano si innamorò della giovane. Quel pane era davvero buono, infatti era prodotto seguendo una ricetta segretissima che solo la ragazza conosceva. Le altre due sorelle iniziarono ad innervosirsi, e covarono nel profondo la loro rabbia fino a quando vennero a sapere che il figlio del capitano di castello aveva chiesto la mano della sorella minore, insomma un vero affronto! La situazione era sfuggita loro di mano e così si decisero a fare qualcosa: andarono infatti in paese e sparsero la voce che la sorella era una strega e che fabbricava il suo pane grazie all'aiuto della magia nera. Ora cari lettori dovete sapere che all'epoca a San Marino non si andava troppo per le lunghe in queste cose, così degli uomini guidati dal parroco di Domagnano si recarono al mulino intimando alla giovane di venire fuori per essere processata. Questa però, conoscendo la sorte che le sarebbe toccata una volta uscita, si barricò nel mulino. La popolazione allora, vista la pericolosità della donna e delle sue arti magiche decise all'unanimità di dare fuoco al mulino con dentro la strega.
Il mulino e l'innocente ragazza finirono così bruciati senza pietà.
Le sorelle inizialmente furono felici di essersi sbarazzate del loro problema, tuttavia dopo poco tempo si ritrovarono senza più niente e morirono di fame.
