TIME TRAVEL AT SCRABO TOWER
In the UK the clocks go forward 1 hour at 1am on the last Sunday in March and back 1 hour at 2am on the last Sunday in October (the date of this event).
The period when the clocks are 1 hour ahead is called British Summer Time (BST). There's more daylight in the evenings and less in the mornings (sometimes called Daylight Saving Time).
When the clocks go back, the UK is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
EVENT DETAILS
Date: Sunday 29th October 2017
Time: This event will commence at 01:45hrs (BST) and last for 30 minutes which means that due to the clock change, the event will actually finish at 01:15hrs (GMT).
Where: At the published co-ords (Scrabo Tower)
Parking: There is ample free parking at N 54° 34.640 W 005° 43.087 and it's a short uphill walk to the meeting co-ordinates (Scrabo Tower) along a well maintained path.
Refreshments: As with our previous Time Travel events, coffee and hot mini sausages / sausage rolls will be served to those mad enough to participate.
Why: Sure it's something a little different and it's an opportunity to meet other geocachers, share caching stories and tips, trade & discover travel bugs and geocoins, meet the person behind the logbook signature, talk about geocaching plans for the day ahead & further, ask questions and take heart that you're not the only one crazy enough to be here at a stupid hour on a Sunday morning. Plus, when else will you get the opportunity to attend an event which finishes before it's begun?
Dogs: Dogs are welcome at this event however we will ascending / descending close to some sheer drops in the dark so please keep them under close control / supervision.
While the event will technically start in 'British Summer Time' and finish in Greenwich Mean Time, it's unlikely to be t-shirt and shorts weather at this time of year and at this time of night so please be sure to dress accordingly.
A logbook will be available to sign with FTF being drawn once everyone has done so. FTF prize is an unactivated Travel Bug.
