The Scale Lane footbridge is the only one of its kind in the world, allowing people to ride on it while it opens.
It was officially opened on Friday 28 June 2013 by the Lord Mayor of Hull.
Originally designed to link the Old Town with a new residential and leisure development on the east bank of the River Hull, by the time the bridge opened most of this development had been abandoned or put on hold due to the economic downturn. Hopefully this development will eventually flourish and put a halt to it's colloquial name of "The Bridge To Nowhere".
It is, however, an attraction in it's own right and is the only moving bridge in the world where people can stay on it as it swings open. It has won many prestigious national and international awards and is listed by the Architectural Digest (USA) as one of ‘Worlds 20 Most Impressive Bridges’.
The name of the cache makes sense when the bridge is viewed from above. The cache is not on the bridge but very close by.
