Boy was at home working on his notes. Pip is curled around his neck asleep. A black and white bird flew through the window of his attic room. Attached to its leg is a piece of paper that looks like it has been torn and very fragile. He carefully took it from the bird's leg and unrolled it. It is a message. A very urgent message. He must hurry to help his friends. The note tells him exactly where to go. He grabs his black sweater and hurries out of the house with Pip close by.
