Geocache Description:

Cache In Trash Out is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide Geocaching community and is a way for the geocaching community to take care of the areas we enjoy while geocaching. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources! You'll get a smiley for your participation in a CITO event and it also has it's own icon. Though of course, the real reward lies in giving back to our environment! :D

With support from the Royal Canal Clean-up, Fingal County Council & kayaking.ie we will be supporting in picking up litter/rubbish/trash from the Royal Canal using Canoes/Kayaks.

Terrain:
Please take note of the Terrain rating on the cache page. This CITO is intended to be participated by kayak. For those of you who want to kayak but do not have your own gear, a rental company are giving us a special rate for a double kayak (2 people) with bouyancy aid (life jacket) and paddle which will be available at the starting coorindates. Please contact me if you want to available of this - limited availability.

If you are not comfortable kayaking, you may walk along the canal, litter picking and supporting the kayakers.

When:
Saturday 30th September starting at 11am until 2pm. I'd ask that anyone kayaking should be there by 10.30am sharp so that we can get ourselves ready to start at 11am.

What to Bring:
If you are bringing your own kayaking gear you should bring a boat with bouyancy aid & paddle along with kayaking clothing such as a wetsuit. If you don't have a wetsuit, you should wear warm clothing (not cotton) and old runners with a light light nylon windproof jacket. A helmet or hat is also recomended.

The Royal Canal clean group will provide basic litter picking equipment. However, it wouldn't do any harm to come prepared to ensure there is enough for everyone. This could include Garden Gloves or a Litter Picker (if you have one).

If you are walking, it is advised to wear appropriate sturdy footwear (as this is a canal towpath) and depending on the weather that day, a rain jacket or suncream.

Please note there will be nowhere to store bags whilst we work.
Also suncream and water are highly recommended - staying hydrated is very important!

Getting there:
There is plenty of parking at the Royal Amenity Group Centre where we are meeting or alternatively, you may take the train to Leixlip Confey and it is a 10 minute walk from the station.
