OWNER MAINTENANCE REQUIRED PLEASE

Hi there jbro75,

This cache has been flagged by Geocaching HQ as a cache that MAY need some attention. You would have received an automated email from Geocaching HQ recently which explained what needs to be done.

Unfortunately, nothing seems to have happened, so I am having to take the next step and temporarily disable the cache - see here: Geocache Health Score. .

Can you please respond to this situation (or indicated your intention) within 14 days, so others know exactly what is happening with this cache?

You have lots of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:

  • Check on the cache, repair and/or replace the cache or do whatever else is needed, post an Owner Maintenance log indicating the cache has been checked and ENABLE your cache. Then sit back and wait for the praises.

  • If you really hope to get it fixed but there is some unusual reason why you can't do it soon, then at least post a Write Note log (within 14 days). Be sure to indicate the actual date that you expect to have it fixed so that everyone knows you are on top of it. For ongoing issues (where you don't have an actual date) please ensure you visit the page and post a note every 28 days so as to keep everyone up to speed.

  • If you don't plan on fixing it then you could consider passing it on to another geocacher by asking them to Adopt it or alternatively, you need to Archive it, so it is removed from searches and someone else can have the spot. Don't forget to remove any remnants of your previously enjoyed cache too.

You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of those. Well, if nothing happens, then a few weeks from today, when I next look at the cache page, it is likely that I will, unfortunately, have to de-list (Archive) it on the basis that it has been abandoned.

Honestly, I'd rather you decide, so please do something before then. Please don't send me an email but instead follow the information/advice posted above.

Geocache Description:

THE BEACON This Geocache is located adjacent the Paynesville foreshore within Gilsensen Reserve. If you have some time, take a walk around the township of Paynesville and look at some of the public art and sculptures that the township has to offer. Paynesville is a popular boating location, effectively surrounded on three sides by water There are extensive lawns, stretches of sand, boat ramps and a pier along the southern shoreline. The eastern shoreline along McMillans Strait also includes lawn areas and is great for an afternoon picnic of Barbeque. The Beacon is located within the Gilsenan Reserve and was designed by Brendon Sims local artist from Raymond Island in 2015 at the request of the East Gippsland Shire council. Gilsenan Reserve is also the location of the Paynesville Farmers Market held on the second Sunday of each month from 8:30am - 1:00pm. It is strongly recommended that this cache is not attempted during the market.
