Il ponte è stato costruito alla fine degli anni 80, per agevolare il traffico, lo stesso, finisce all'inizio del corso di Pergola "Corso Matteotti"
Sotto il ponte c'è il "Parco del Mercatale" un ampia area verde con parcheggio adibito ai camper, all'interno dello stesso si svolgono varie feste estive tra le più rinomate e belle, la Festa del Vino e la Sagra del Finocchio.
