Corria l'any 2004 quan els veins i veines de Riudecanyes es van inquietar per certs fets que es relaten i en queda constància a la prensa de la època:
Des de les hores ençà han passat els anys, però el que encara no sap la població és que certament el caiman va ser per aquests indrets i no estava pas sol......
La seva estada pel pantà de Riudecanyes va tenir una finalitat reproductiva de la qual en van néixer fins a cinc caimans més, fruit dels cinc ous que va dipositar per diferents indrets d'aquest espai que cal que trobeu si voleu saber ón es realment el cau del famós caiman de Riudecanyes...
