Geocache Description:

This is our first family cache. It is to be part of two we have planned to place close to home as part of a set of two for my sons Scouting Geocaching badge. My son wanted to make a fun puzzle cache for all the fellow caches around us to enjoy. So we are starting off with our birdhouse cache. please don't be put off by being a puzzle cache this is a fun one to do our friends who have been our testers at home have loved it.

please note! during covid 19 pandemic please can i ask if your doing our cache on your daily exercise walk can we ask if you would use hand sanitiser before handling the cashe if your able to do so, to keep everyone safe. thank you. it is visible if you walk to the front of the house. please make sure when you put the lock on you make sure you lock it with the numbers facing forward to help fellow cachers. thank you. This is a birdhouse puzzle you have to solve to get the combination to the lock to get the cache inside. come and see the ugly bug ball and find the combination number to open the bird house. This is placed at our home you have permission to come onto the front garden to access the cache, it is an open fronted garden so easy to see from the road. There are residents and visitors car parking spaces next to our house for you to park, or is a short walking distance from the town centre of Hucknall. Our neighbour's are aware of the cache so don't be afraid to come along to have a go they are fellow geocachers too! it is chained to the wall but we have put a longer chain on it so you can lift the box off the wall to be handled. please place back as you found it. You my even be lucky to come along when the mini cachers are out playing and could have a cuppa tea while you solve the cache. This is accessible by anyone, it is placed over a gravel surface with a path alongside, wheelchair users can access if they have a carer or able bodied person along with them to assist . It is child friendly if you have mini cachers along for the fun, you will find a log to sign inside the box and pen and a few bug themed swaps for the young at heart. there are several other cachers near by so a good addition to a days caching. if your a bit puzzled feel free to knock on and we are always happy to help. for social distancing during covid we have a video door bell if you ring we can speak to you through it so can social distance. This cache at home and the other we will be shortly placing near by has been inspired in its placing from my son learning about some local history that along side our home there once ran Hucknall's first train line, and was part of the Great Central Railway, it ran for a short time before relocation to the center of the town. The only remaining signs of the railway is the two fields that now sit on top of where the track ditch has been filled in that run along side our housing estate, and the bridge that still sits half buried when it was all filled in south-south east direction from us on Watnall Road at the location of Torkardhill Medical Centre.
