This cache is the reincarnate of the popular, but now defunct, 'Umstead Park #1' cache hidden on 17-Feb-01 by ShibaScott. That cache was removed by park officials sometime between 07-Apr-01 and 12-Apr-01.
The new cache is the third joint cache hidden by ShibaScott and Glenn. We're basically snubbing (is that a word?) our noses at the park officials for removing the first cache.
When you find the cache, I hope you enjoy our humorous protest to the removal of the original cache.
Easy - If you park at the Trenton Road / Reedy Creek B&B access point and take the short hike to the cache.
Harder (and a wonderful hike and, if I may say so, one of my favorites in the park) - If you park at the I-40/Harrison/Reedy Creek entrance to the park and take the moderate hike directly to the cache on Loblolly Trail.
Oh yeah, Glenn says 'Why do they call it Loblolly Trail, when there aren't even any pine trees?' Hee, Hee.
