Geocache Description:

This multi-stage cache is on a 2.5-mile loop hike at Riverbend Park. The cache is a tribute to FILM CAN???, a multi-cache placed in 2004 by 2Wheel'in.  It is part of the TRIBUTES17 cache series by the Northern Virginia Geocaching Organization.

This cache contains a code word for the bonus cache of the TRIBUTES17 series: GC7CXFE: TRIBUTES17 Bonus. Each cache in the TRIBUTES17 series can be found individually, but make sure you collect the clue inside. You'll need it to find the bonus! Each 3 letter digit character clue is hidden in plain sight in each container and is in the format "Z = A1!".

FILM CAN??? was the first multi placed by 2Wheel'in, and he diligently maintained it for 8 years. It received 89 "Found it" logs in its lifespan. The cache took seekers on a pleasant walk along a Reston trail system, ending in a spectacular final location atop a large rockcrop. It was only the second multi-cache I found and inspired me to use multiple-stage placements to take cachers on a good hike.

This "tribute" multi-cache (Another Film Can???) is located at Riverbend Park on trails up above the Potomac River.  To get coordinates to the final, you must visit 3 physical-container stages and 3 "virtual" spots (at these there is no container but instead something for you to find and use to determine coordinates; see below).  Each stage find results in a number that you will use to determine the coordinates of the final container.  Just like the original cache, the final is a “full grown” film can (if you’re curious about the origin of the “film can” see placard inside container).

The round-trip hike is approximately 2.5 miles and can be made into a loop by following the trail along the river back to parking.  There is an extensive trail system in the area, and the park's trail map will be of use in navigating between the stages (here's a map with one possible route marked: trail map).

Please do NOT hunt this cache at night!

All stages (except for the final) are marked as waypoints. Navigate to each one and either answer the question for virtual stages, or hunt for a container at physical stages. Record numbers as you go along. First three stages define North, and last three West.
