The location of this cache is an often overlooked section of the park featuring a natural shoreline & old cedars along the banks. It is just off of the foot-path nature trail.
Interestingly, the shoreline here is very rocky- the result of the last retreating glacier that created the lake some 12,000 years ago that left a small moraine here along the shore as it retreated. There are numerous glacial rocks that have been tumbled into fairly round shapes by the waves of the lakeshore, some of them are beloved Petoskey Stones or occasional gemstones if you search well enough!
There is a small patch of wild rice reeds growing nearby as well.
