Geocache Description:

Located in South Higgins Lake State Park  "Marl Lake Access" trail loops network . Parking is available in the access site parking area with a good hiking distance to cache, recreation passport or day pass required for vehicle entry. Alternately, you can park at the Markey Memorial Park and hike the connector path.
Cache is an ammo-can sized container..

The location of this cache is a long overlooked section of the park, but likely to be soon full of foot-traffic & bikes during the summer, and cross-country skiers & snowshoes during the winter as it becomes discovered. This is a new section of trail that was added in the summer of '16 to serve as a connector from the existing Marl Lake trail loops to the Markey Memorial Park.

It's a workout-worthy steep hike up what is a ~12,000 year old stoney glacial morraine hillside from "Checkpoint #7" of the Marl Lake trail. To add interest to the second-growth hardwood forest, this is also part of the rear property area of a very old orchard farm dating from the 1880's.

This cache is placed for the "South Higgins Meet & Greet" event Sept 23, '17
