The Red-Bellied Snake is a very small snake with faint stripes and reddish belly. They inhabit both fields and woods (under boards, etc.). They feed on worms, slugs, and snails and are common throughout Michigan. For more info on Michigan snakes, visit www.michigan.gov.
This series of five snake caches is located in the Ottawa National Forest campground and along the Ge-Che trail. This cache is located near the entrance to the campground a short distance from the information signage.
