Canada officially became a country 150 years ago and has undergone numerous changes as has grown politically, with new provinces and territories coming on board to create the great nation we know today. We have become known worldwide as a peaceful country which is evident in the fact that there haven't been any wars involving divisions in the country since long before the two World Wars, in which some of our men and women perished fighting for Canada and its allies.

The name, Canada, most likely originated from the Huron-Iroquois word, "kanata", which translated, means "village" or "settlement". It's easy to see how confusing the two names, Canada, and Kanata, can be!

To non-English speakers, especially Europeans, the spelling of the words Canada can easily be confused with the name of the suburb of Kanata. For instance, a German speaker would write "Canada" as "Kanada". When Kanata was inaugurated in 1978 as the City of Kanata, it was named for the same reason as Canada, being that it was a new "village" or "settlement".

In my line of work, I see a lot of international mail and is interesting to see the variations in the spelling of both names. As long as it get to Ottawa, it'll arrive in Kanata, Canada. ;)

You are looking for a (well washed several times over) 1 kg peanut butter jar which started off with a logbook, various pins in a Canadian theme, facial tissue, and some circulated Canadian coinage from 2017. There's enough room in the container to accommodate small travel bugs and coins.

Most of all, have fun discovering this little gem of an area which is slowly becoming developed around the perimeter.
