Merlin lost a scroll in the crystal cave and he needs a spell to see in the dark. Help him gather ingredients for the night vision spell. Merlin's spell book will help you find the way. Beware though, the magic of the forest will be all around: owls hooting, trees creaking, the un-natural howling of the wind; these woods are ALIVE.

Explore the woods of White Cliff Park AT NIGHT. White Cliff is open until 11 PM. Although you may be able to do this cache during the day, you will find it much more fun to complete at night (the reflectors will be much more visible in the dark as well). There have been several groups out at night while I tested this cache. It is safe to be in White Cliff park at night. Once you reach the posted coordinates, open the intercache link from your smart phone: Through the Forest Darkly
Notes
- Along the way you will be following trails of reflectors. Once you find a reflector, walk to the reflector and from that spot, shine your light around till you find the next reflector.
- You will need a smart phone with data service.
- For IOS users, make to enable location access & precise location in Safari, chrome or whichever browser you use: Settings → Privacy & Security → Locations Services → Safari Websites → then allow location access and enable precise location.
- Bring 1 or 2 strong flashlights.
- A GPS with tracks turned ON is recommended to navigate in and out of the forest in the dark.
- The compass may not work well on some devices. If you have trouble finding locations, try entering the coordinates from the destination bar into an external app or GPS device.
- Hit "continue" to refresh the compass while navigating. I have found this to be a useful trick anytime the compass locks up.
- There is a fair amount of bushwhacking along the way, as well as a small (mostly dry) creek crossing.

This cache is part of the "Legend of the Sword" series. In order to find the final, you must gather information at each of the caches within the series. You can find a link to the final cache here.
At waypoint P, count the stone pillars. The sum of this two digit number = P.
Download this PDF which contains a helpful chart for completing the series.
