Kohler’s Ford Lane was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps stationed at Camp Globe. Prior to 1933, the Clark County Forest would burn over every few years. This and other fire lanes provided access for fire fighting.
The actual ‘Kohlers Ford’ across the south branch of the Eau Claire River is on what now is known as Butler Lane. Access to the ford had been blocked and motor vehicles can no longer cross. Kohler’s Ford Lane changes to Butler Lane at Camp Globe Road. This end of Kohler’s Ford Lane is is accessible from Camp Globe Road. Please do not block the lane. Large logging trucks come and go.
