Guandu temple, which enshrining Mazu, was firstly built in Qing Dynasty in 1712 in a mountain near Guandu and rebuilt in 1715. In1897, a rich man named Da-Chun Lin purchased the land of temple for his own feng shui purpose. In return, he built a new temple at the riverside of Tamsui River, which is the place the temple stood till now.
Guandu Temple enshrines Mazu, a goddess worshiped by residents at southeast coast of China. Guanyin, Wenchang Wang, and some other god and goddess are also enshrined in Guandu Temple. Residents in North Taiwan usually come to Guandu Temple to pray for good lucks and healthy lives, making Guandu Temple one of the Three Mazu Temples in Taiwan.
