Geocache Description:

Sherman Peak #10

Sherman Peak is #10 on the Eastern Washingtons Highest Peaks list. Sherman Peak is 7,011 feet tall. The start point of the hike is at the pass. So in all you will do about 1,500 feet of elevation gain. A great book to go through the list of those mountains is written by James P Johnson. The book name is 50 Hikes for Eastern Washington's Highest Mountains. I have slowly been working on that list. I Missed out on all of 2017's summer season of hiking due to knee surgery. I was pretty bummed about it but it was a must do to get my knee back in shape. A couple months after knee surgery I set up a geoevent at Sherman Pass. 4 fellow geocachers took on the task to join me on a hike to Sherman Peak. It was so fantastic to be out hiking the mountains again. Even better to celebrate this hike with friends. Every mountain top is special but this one is extra special to me. I hope you enjoy this hike as much as we did. You will have to off trail hike the last almost 4/10 of a mile to the peak. There is no trail to the top. A bit of deadfall and light tree area hiking is needed. After that there are a couple rock scree fields to go through. The suggested hike would be to do the Sherman Loop trail and go to the east side of the loop. Use the suggested waypoint to the top. Take your time and enjoy this hike!
