En marzo de 2012, Montevideo fue sede de la Asamblea de Gobernantes del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo y de la Corporación Interamericana de Inversiones. Con motivo de este evento se colocó un letrero que formaba la palabra ‘Montevideo’ en la rambla de Pocitos, a la altura de “Kibón”. La intención inicial fue retirarlo luego de un tiempo, pero la aceptación que tuvo entre la población llevó a la Intendencia de Montevideo a construir uno nuevo, que además pudiera resistir los actos vandálicos. El actual letrero fue inaugurado el 2 de enero de 2014. Está construido en hormigón e instalado sobre una base de cemento. Las letras están pintadas con pintura antigraffiti y tienen una red luminaria que las resalta durante la noche. ENG: In March 2012, Montevideo hosted the Assembly of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank and the Inter-American Investment Corporation. On the occasion of this event a sign was placed that formed the word 'Montevideo' in the rambla of Pocitos, near 'Kibón'. The initial intention was to remove it afterwards, but the acceptance among the population led the Intendencia of Montevideo to build a new one, which could also resist vandalism. The current sign was inaugurated on January 2, 2014. It is built of concrete and installed on a cement base.
