Geocache Description:

Updated 08/14/2018!

Welcome to the Native Plants of the Eastern Shore Cache #2! While you are here, please take a few minutes to explore the beautiful "Native Plant Nature Trail" created by the Eastern Shore Master Naturalists. This trail takes you on a beautiful walk behind the Historic Onancock School along the Onancock Creek.

This cache is technically found at the "end" of the nature trail, but there is no true "beginning."

The trail simply loops around the Historic Onancock School along the Onancock Creek making a half circle.

Walking this trail will provide you with the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of Eastern Shore Native Plants, as well as the opportunity to find 3 different geocaches!

This cache can be found near the "end" of the Native Plant Nature Trail, near the Historic Onancock School.  You will be starting at the ball field adjacent to the school.  Parking can be found along the roadway or nearby (short walk/drive) in the Onancock School's gravel parking area near Native Plants of the Eastern Shore #1 cache!

Container Size:  Small

2 other caches can be found nearby!  Native Plants of the Eastern Shore #1 and the "Historic Onancock School" geocache from the Captain John Smith Geotrail!

Native plants are an extremely important factor in the overall function of the Eastern Shore's natural ecosystem.  To learn more about the importance and benefits of Eastern Shore Native Plants please view this handy Fact Sheet from the Virginia Department for Environmental Equality.
