The Ystradgynlais area has, perhaps surprisingly, very good habitats for wildlife and a number of rare species of plants, insects, reptiles etc can be seen if you are quiet. 100 years ago this area was the hotbed of the Industrial Revolution with coal mines scarring the countryside and iron works belching out smoke and steam. How quickly nature has reclaimed the land!
On this wild area of land owned by the Chameleon Cafe you will find a bug hotel constructed by Brecknock Wildlife Trust. This filled with all sorts of materials that insects, spiders, frogs and all sorts of other wildlife can make thier homes in. Perhaps you will be inspired to make one at home. They don't have to be this big.
There is also a travel bug hotel hidden in this with spaces for small to medium sized travel bugs and geocoins. Please follow the hint carefully and don't disturb the rest of the bug hotel. I have started this off with four travel bugs.
I have started this off with four travel bugs. In order to keep a reasonable number of TBs in the cache so every visitor has some choice, please do not take more TBs/geocoins than you leave. You can leave more if you like.
This can be treated as a cache and dash. The Chameleon Cafe has parking for customers here. Please don't park here if you are doing more of the Wild Communities Trail.
Please leave the information cards in the containers when you have signed the log and replace carefully as you found it.
Well done to SNIFFADOGZ on being First to Find.
