Geocache Description:

Remembering Dad...

My dad's name was John E. Webster. His time on this Earth was done 32 years ago on 20 March 1985 - the first day of spring! It was a sad day for my family to lose our beloved dad!!! This cache simply remembers a wonderful dad, mentor, and ultimately a friend!

NIGHT CACHING ON THIS ONE is possible, but not recommended!!! You are on your own with the university.

Each time I visit this place, I remember my dad!

Dad loved the University of Guelph very much! He was the first in our "known" family to go to university. Although, not much is remembered about his father - Frank Edward Webster - and his father before him - Edward E. Webster and his father (just discovered in January 2024) Samuel Webster. Dad studied political science and geography! He totally loved to debate with his professors. He started his undergrad in 1969 and graduated in 1973, just before our family moved away from Guelph and started a new adventure in the beautiful Bruce Peninsula! This cache honors his love of learning, love of debate, and certainly his love for truth - truth to the very limit of our human knowledge and abilities!!!

Thank you Dad, you have shown me much by the way you lived, loved and never gave up, no matter what life brought your way, including a heart attack and finally cancer! Now that I'm almost 60 years old, I can "feel" the day, soon, when we will play that last game of golf together.

I would give everything I have and will have to spend 10 minutes with him ... to get hear his voice again, to hug him one last time. But alas, this is not the way of this 3 dimensional world, at least as far as we are able to perceive. Faith tells me, I will get to hug him again one day soon, when I bow my knee before my Creator - Jesus Christ! Blessings to each geocacher - and muggle alike - as you spend some time listening to your own memories in this beautiful place.

Puzzling...

  1. You should be standing upon a specific pattern of paving stones in front of War Memorial Hall in the Alumni Plaza.
  2. Count the number of elements in this specific pattern. This is "A".
  3. Next, you will see a pattern to these patterns of "A" elements. Count the number of the "A" element patterns in each of the pattern sets. The inner most number of patterns is "B".
  4. The next bigger number is "C".
  5. The biggest number is "D".
  6. Now let's calculate the offset to find the final coordinates.
  7. Add A+B+C+D. This is "E".
  8. Divide E / 1000, then add to the following meaningless coordinates: N43 32.203 W 080 12.660

  9. War Hall

    Parking...

There is a fee for parking at the university during the weekdays between 8:00 am and 5 pm. The rest of the time, read the parking notices. Be aware there is classes running at night ... apparently ... and there will be times when parking spots are in high demand. Parking is usually checked on a regular schedule, but what that schedule is I do not know. Good luck, if indeed "luck" actually exists!!!

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
