Old River Runner logged his first cache on July 20, 2003.   His geocaching name comes from his love of white water rafting the Colorado River thru the Grand Canyon, which he has now run 11 times since 1986.  Beaver's Liar (GCB541) was ORR's first logged cache and he wrote:

"Typical Sunday in July in Arkansas. Heat, humidity, mosquitos, poison ivy, and water moccasins. Just a walk in the park to this one!  Took a yo-yo, left a post card. Note: Recent storms and high winds have blocked one approach to this cache."

This cache was hidden by Wsteven on 12/15/02 and is still an active hide.

Many miles, gallons of gas, time, sweat, dollars, and effort has been invested as ORR approached his 15,000th find.  For this huge milestone he chose a brand new virtual cache placed by Yazz on 8/27/17.  Here is his log for cache find #15,000....

"I had decided that this one would be my 15,000th find a couple of weeks ago. It is very fitting. It is one of the new virtuals in a nice historic area that I really enjoy visiting. Although I had been here before, I still enjoyed the tour provided by this virtual. I love to imagine the history of this place, and what it witnessed during the time it was an active fort and courthouse. What a great spot, worthy of a favorite point. I've messaged the answers to the questions to the CO and attached the photo of me from the webcam. Found at 4:54:00 PM on 10/2/2017. Thanks for the cache, Yazz! -- ORR"

We are honored to welcome and induct Old River Runner into the Arkansas 15,000 Club.  Our families have known each other since we moved to Russellville in 1991 through our children's scouting and school activities, plus both ORR & NW worked at the same location with nearby desks.  Unfortunately, we didn't discover geocaching until 2007, but quickly realized who ORR was.  Many, many questions later he had helped us understand the rules of this hobby and patiently guided us through many errors as we gained experience finding and hiding caches.   He even generously shared his kayaks with NW so we could hunt two water hides to fill in some D/T holes.

Upon browsing his profile page you quickly come to understand how much he loves geocaching,  With his D/T Grid and Jasmer Chart filled you know he's a well accomplished cacher.   Travels have helped him cache in 41 states and more than 331 US counties.  He's attended all but one type of event, and found all but one type of cache.  In one day alone he found 1028 caches on the ET trail, and thru the years has signed the logs for 15 caches placed in 2000.  There aren't many of these left.  He has generously given back to our hobby by hiding 264 caches, representing 6 different icons, plus hosted 36 events and 4 CITO's.

Impressively, Old River Runner has also been the Community Volunteer Reviewer for over 11 years, serving the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. As Chuck Walla, he volunteers many, many hours of his time reviewing all the caches that are submitted for publication, contacting cache owners about hides that have issues, and helping to insure caching in our state remains top quality while continuing to grow.

Please join us in celebrating Old River Runner's accomplishment as he is inducted into the Arkansas 15,000 Club.  We'd love to hear stories about caching with him through the years.

Please note that each attendee will be responsible for his or her own food and drink. The manager of the restaurant has agreed that persons attending this event will not be required to purchase anything. However, please do not bring your own food or drink into the restaurant!

WE NEED TO GIVE THE RESTUARANT A PRELIMINARY COUNT BY DECEMBER 1, 2017.  PLEASE LOG YOUR "WILL ATTEND" BY THEN TO HELP THE BUSINESS PLAN FOR OUR GROUP.
