Geocache Description:

The American Beech is one of eastern US fine large forest trees.  Most of us know it for the smooth grey bark in
which we carved our initials.  As you walk this woods it is mostly beech in this area and lots of names on these trees.
Unfortunately the tree is subject to beech bark disease where an insect creates a wound that is later invaded by fungus
and creates large holes which are visible on all these trees.  These holes weaken the tree until wind and weather finally
push the tree at that weak point and it falls and dies.  The tree at these coordinates was blown down from the trunk at
about 20 feet above the ground, unlike most trees that are pushed over at the roots.
I have had to hide this cache in a rather sneaky way because my last two caches have gone missing in this park.  Basically
you are looking for a fallen beech and need to concentrate your search there.  Coordinates are bouncy back here so I did my
best.  The cache is attached by a magnet, no tools needed except your pen.  Now that sounds easy doen't it?
I suggest you park at coordinates and cross the stream here since you want to be on the northwest side of this stream or
you will have to rock hop across later.
