Cache seekers assume all risks involved in seeking this cache, so be sure to check road/trail conditions and be properly prepared. The cache and route may be under snow during winter and I have no idea whether snowshoeing or xc-skiing is a viable option.
Come out and visit the Hansen Ridge Trail, which was converted from a forest road to a singletrack trail through the combined efforts of the USFS, EMTBA, and Mountains to Sound Greenway. The trail continues past this cache to form a Z-shaped loop that's <6 miles long and <1000 ft of elevation gain...with options to extend into a longer hike/bike trip. About halfway through the loop is a 2 mile (RT) detour that will take you up to Little Saint Helens.
There are some wonderful panoramic views along the Hansen Ridge trail. Take a seat near this cache, which is a 1/4 mile from the improved trailhead, and enjoy the view. The parking area near the trailhead was used as a shooting pit for several years. Empty shells littered the ground and blasted targets lined the hillside. The area looks very different now. It has been cleared and replanted, and picnic tables and firepits have been installed.
