This two-stage letterbox hybrid is the fourth in my Forgotten Springfield series, which currently also includes award-winning Ghost Lake, Abandoned Hooes Road, and Cross County Expressway. Each will take you to a forgotten little corner of Springfield, revealing forgotten little bits of history.
The cache is not at the posted coordinates but is located nearby.
In the early 1950s, the land to the southeast of the intersection of Hooes and Pohick Roads was subdivided, including a small grid of four new roads (Redman, Scott, Giles, and Flint). Chapel Acres, as it was and is called, was the only subdivision of its sort for many miles.
Time marched on and the intersection of Hooes and Pohick doesn't quite exist the way it once did. You can see this for yourself by comparing the map below to a modern map. And notice where you are on the map below when you find the final stage.
To find the final, follow the clues posted in the southwest corner of Lot #22 in the map below. A camera phone might be handy here, as well as one's usual coordinate manipulation tools. Information for two different methods of finding the final coordinates is provided here; only one set of information needs to be used.
Both stages are on public land. Night caching is prohibited.
