Welcome to Flat Rock Park, one of the largest parks in the Columbus area.
While the premier activity might be taking in the water falls and walking along the large rock formation, this park offers a little something for everyone including: a 3.9 mile moderately trafficked loop trail, access to the Fall Line Trace trail, an 18-hole frisbee golf course, fishing, bouldering, and of course plenty of geocaches!
Guests also have access to playgrounds, multiple picnic areas, grill and covered eating areas.
This park is accessible year-round and is pet friendly, although they must be kept on a leash. Please note that the park is open from sunrise to sunset only.
If exploring the rocks along the waterfall, please use caution, especially when the rocks are wet. They will be extremely slippery.
To find the cache, please go to the listed coordinates. At that location you will find a stone column with a bronze plaque on it with the words, "Jenkins Hall" and a date. You will need that date to determine the final location.
The cache is located at:
N 32 32.7AB
W 84 52.9CD
To find the cache, you'll have to do a little math:
A - ADD the FIRST and THIRD number
B - ADD the FIRST, THIRD and FOURTH number
C - MULTIPLY the THIRD and FOURTH number together...then SUBTRACT the FIRST number
D - DIVIDE the FOURTH number by one
What is Jenkins Hall? Where did it go?
Apparently it used to be a pavilion similar to Friendship Hall, but in late November of 2007, there was a fire that burned it to the ground. The cause is believed to be from hot coals thrown in a trash can, but the park was closed and thankfully no one was injured.
The Chattahoochee Valley Cachers would like to thank the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department for their continued support of geocaching within the Columbus area.
Congratulations to Creekwader and kb10bo for the FTF!
