This cache hunt will lead you on a beautiful hike through Wadi Hidan, starting from the bridge at the Dead Sea Hwy. (R65). You’ll find the cache at the very end of the Wadi. The only challenge is a 10 m climb with on a fixed rope. Surrounded by spectacular rocks and waterfalls this geocache is hidden under two rocks in a metal box. Enjoy the best cache in the entire Jordan Valley.
When you reach the spectacular end of the valley, you are almost there. The location lies 300 meters below sea level. It is enclosed by huge walls of solid rock. Small waterfalls rain down on you.
If you know Jules Verne’s novel “Journey to the Center of the Earth” you will agree, that this must be the place where the heroes resurfaced after their unbelievable journey to the center of our planet. Professor Otto Lidenbrock was the first to discover the entrance to the geological underworld. He and his nephew Axel started their expedition at the famous Snæfellsjökull volcano in Iceland and they came out right here. This cache commemorates their braveness and adventurism.
Most of the hike in a valley (Wadi Hidan) is very easy. There is only one difficulty towards the end of the valley where you have to climb on a rope beside a small waterfall. Once you’ve passed that passage, finding the cache will be easy. It is hidden under two rocks in the dry middle of the deep circular valley. The cache is in a steel casket. You’ll find appropriate reading material.
To display the literary dimensions of this cache, travel bug TB7ZEWP will visit all the other cities and locations mentioned in Jules Verne’s novel. It’s journey starts here and hopefully returns to Jordan on day.
Please do not litter!
