A terület eredetileg az itt nyíló rengeteg virágról kapta a nevét, de volt idő, amikor szántóföldnek használták és csak később lett belőle park. A város fejlesztési programjának köszönhetően 2008-ban a területen 250 tő rózsát telepítettek, a tér modern játszóteret, majd kutyafuttatót kapott. A tér északi oldalán állították fel a díszkaput, melyet Szendi Péter győri asztalosmester készített tölgyfából. A fafaragások rózsa motívumokat tartalmaznak.
2010-ben állították fel a tér délkeleti szélén a Széchenyi-kopjafát, ami szintén Szendi Péter alkotása. Egy évvel később a kopjafa közelében avatták fel a viharok által kidöntött, 103 éves tölgyből faragott Zichy Ottó portrét.
Gróf Zichy Ottó (1815-1880) az 1848-49-es magyar forradalom és szabadságharc honvéd ezredese, a Győri Nemzetőrség parancsnoka.

Originally the place got its name from the flowers blooming here; later this area was used as a plough field; then it became a park again. In 2008 - thanks to the town's developmental project - 250 rose bushes were planted in the square and it also got a modern playground and a dog run. On the northern side of the square a portal was put up which was made by a local carpenter (Peter Szendi) from oak. The rose patterns were carved by his son.
In 2010 the Széchenyi wooden column (also the work of Peter Szendi) was put up on the south-eastern side of the square. One year later the portrait of Otto Zichy - carved from a 103-year-old oak brought down by a storm - was placed near the wooden column.
Earl Otto Zichy (1815-1880) was a colonel during the 1848-49 Hungarian revolution and the captain of the militia of Győr.
