Geocache Description:

I haven't seen many gadget caches around the area so I decided to build one. It's one of the simplest types of gadget caches I could think of and only requires a tiny bit of thinking. Seasoned cachers have probably come across one or two of these along the way. There is room for small objects.

This will be very easy to spot and will be accessible all year round. It is located on a fence, around the edge of a retention pond/field (which can be swampy at times) so the best route will be to take the outer path around to the cache. Since this is my very first attempt at creating a gadget cache, there is definitely room for improvement so please bear with me. (I am not a carpenter and this build was a learning experience! Future builds will be better.) It may take a jiggle to get it back together but it shouldn't be too difficult. If you can't get it together or something breaks, don't hesitate to message me and I'll swing by to fix it asap. No worries! Have fun with this one!

Placed with landowner's permission ........................................................................ A quick little history on this subdivision known as Moecherville: In the late 1940s, American soldiers were returning home from World War II and needed somewhere to stay. Cheap, "cracker-jack-box" homes were quickly erected in this portion of unicorporated Aurora and were originally designed to be temporary housing. More and more homes began to fill the area and the homes began to become permanent fixtures. Today, Moecherville takes up just a few square blocks in total. Much of the lower end of Moecherville was once a swampy area. As so, during heavy rainfalls, some areas still accumulate large amounts of water. Moecherville has its own park, had its own water department, and had its own fire department. The water dept was taken over by a private company and the fire dept merged with a neighboring dept in order to provide better response times and protection for its residents. The park is maintained by the park district and is a favorite hang-out spot for young basketball players during the summer.
