Geocachers are a unique subset of humanity, and Puzzle Solvers (or PuzzleHeads), are a smaller, more unique (weirder?) subset of Geocachers.
PuzzleHeads enjoy Geocaching on it's own, but that only involves looking for 35mm canisters, Ammo cans, Lock-n'locks, etc; PuzzleHeads need the extra thrill of solving a puzzle too!
Almost all Geocachers have found Mystery caches, either by solving the puzzle themselves, or by accompanying another geocacher who did solve the puzzle. There's nothing wrong with claiming a mystery geocache that you didn't solve, but the real PuzzleHead wants the double-thrill ... solving the puzzle, as well as finding the geocache.
PuzzleHeads are unique. When many geocaches are published, they scan the list for the Mystery geocaches, because that's where to start. If there is a choice between going after a single solved Mystery geocache, or 10 other geocaches, the single solved Mystery geocache is always chosen.
There is no strict definition of a PuzzleHead, so I propose the following:
If you have more than 1000 total Finds, and more than 10% of your total Finds are Mystery geocaches, then you are a PuzzleHead!! Congratulations!!
Now this isn't a Challenge geocache, so everyone who finds it can claim the Find. But only the truly unique, (addicted?) geocacher, who meets the aforementioned criteria, can LOG that they are a PuzzleHead. Looking forward to see how many of us, are out there!
Muggles may be nearby; have your cover-story ready! There is no need to go down the slope. Cache is a 35mm canister, so bring your pen, and please write small.
