Look around you – the cell phone you are holding, the PC/Apple you are sitting next to, the 80” LED flat screen TV where you watch your favorite sports. Some of us over 60 view these as magic devices. As Geocachers we connect daily to a network of satellites orbiting hundreds of kilometer above us; charge our devices with sun charged solar battery backups; send images of our DNF locations to cache owners and previous finders to confirm our search location; inspect every nook and cranny with our laser corrected/corneal replaced eyes; do our ‘Spiraling Bee’ and ‘Happy’ dances on our titanium knees and hips; and celebrate with a purchase instantly scanned and then paid for by a tap of our plastic card. Magic? Perhaps……. To me the true magic is being able to explore the world with or without our ‘tools’.
