The track from the car park to the lake is a standard tramping track - do not expect to be able to mountain bike this track! The track follows the Tummil stream so is mostly flat, but does vary - from flat ground to slip faces to boulder hopping.
The hut here is a standard DoC 6-bunk (1 ticket) hut, located in the Ferny Gair Conservation Area. The cache is hidden a few metres away, at one of the gems of this area.
