Geocache Description:

This cache is located near the gravesites of two local War of 1812 soldiers.

The cache has been (temporarily) a small white Tupperware-type container, replacing a stolen ammo box (which itself was changed for coffee-can sized bin this cache started out as - ignore pictures showing old can, or even the original ammo box.) On 4/20/08, I replaced the Tupperware container with a new ammo box (actually, placed the Tupperware container IN the new ammo case.) The cache is hidden south-southeast (downtrail) from two graves of War-of-1812 soldiers who were encamped near the present Route 173. There is a "New York State History" sign on the highway below the burial ground, and a trail which leads to the graves and to a ravine below. (That's where the cache is... amidst some stones.)
To access the site most easily, look for a car-wide trail off Route 173, directly across from Van Duyn Home and Hospital. Pull in and park there.(The parking area is located at 43 degrees 00.33 Min. North, 076 degrees 10.13 Min. West.) Walk in. It's not far. Picture the area before development: no highway, no traffic. Just hills and rolling woods...
The graves are located at 43.00.33N, 076.10.04W. The cache is a few dozen feet downhill, down the trail.
See also my notes from January and February, 2008 (and others): 43.00.31N, 076.10.04W are more-or-less exact coords for the new location!
