Tribute to Story County High Schools - COLLINS-MAXWELL

Collins-Maxwell has been around for decades, though many that follow area sports teams don't necessarily know this. Up until the beginning of the 2017-18 school year, Collins-Maxwell HS, along with Baxter in nearby Jasper County, had shared sports teams. This team was known as CMB. Rather than go to whole-grade sharing, the two schools decided to end the co-op and began fielding teams as separate schools again. Both teams had been sharing the nickname "Raiders" with black and silver as their team colors. After the split, both schools picked new nicknames and color schemes. Baxter took the "Bolts" as their nickname and their new colors became purple and white, while Collins-Maxwell picked the "Spartans" and voted royal blue, silver & black as their official school colors. Oddly enough, the two schools didn't go back to their original school colors and nicknames they had pre-sports sharing days. Collins-Maxwell used to be the "Panthers" with red and black as their colors, while Baxter was the "Bulldogs" and were orange & black. Collins-Maxwell High School is in the smallest classification of high schools in Iowa with 2017-18 enrollment of 81.
