Opened in March 2014 by the Christian Family Service, a social welfare organization, this 750,000 square foot garden provides training and workshops to the elderly, socially deprived, and special needs members of the community. Plots are also available for anyone who desires to try their greenthumb and become a true urban farmer. Hand tools, organic fertilizer, water and training are provided on site by a dedicated team of enthusiastic volunteers.
Visitors are welcome to stroll through the garden, but kindly register at the front office and wear your badge as you peruse the well taken care of beds of vegetables and flowers. Come, breathe some fresh air in the middle of the city! Please take care not to damage any of the plants within the garden, but feel free to ask questions, take pictures, or just relax on the many chairs and tables located throughout the garden. Some staff members do speak English, Mandarin, and of course Cantonese.
Out of respect for the people who work so hard at Urban Oasis, the gz is NOT located within the actual garden, but rather within a stone's throw of the front entrance. The gz is accessible 24/7, but please be aware of the high traffic along the path. Small items may be kept inside the cache.
