Geocache Description:

What's that smell??  Onions?  Chili Powder?  Cumin?  Juicy ground chuck?  IT"S CHILI!!!!

It's February, and for the GGA, that means only one thing-- CHILI COOKOFF!!

Chili Chefs: Time to start working on your best chili recipe and fine-tuning it for the GGA crowd!  You should plan to bring your chili either prepared, or fairly close to prepared.  Our group shelter has electricity for crock pots, a small kitchen area, but nowhere to cook a full scale dish. The GGA will supply bowls, spoons, and napkins, but you shoudl provide anything additional "accessories" you think will make your chili standout (Fritos, sour cream, chives, cheese, crab, biscuits, filet mignon, etc.).

Chili Eaters: Grab your chili boots and your best chili spoon and hope no one has spiced their chili with the merciless peppers of Quetzlzacatenengo! (GASP!), grown deep in the jungles primeval by the inmates of a Guatemalan insane asylum. (GASP, GASP!!)

Chili Hat Wearers: Grab your best chili hat and be ready to show off your chili loving headgear to the world!! For even more effect, add chili-shirts, chili-pants, and chili-boots to complete your ensemble!

Chili Presentation Specialists: Sure, your chili may be good, but without an award-winning chili presentation, who's going to stop by and try it? Decorate your chili service with boards, banners, streamers, LED lights, spotlights, chili-lights, chili-music, and anything else that will encourage people to stop by and try your chili!

Join us from 11:30 to 1:00 PM for the 2018, 12th annual Chili Cookoff! Chili tasting will begin at noon!  There will be a prize for the winners, as well as chances to win awesome prizes for all those who attend!

Vote for your favoirtes in four categories:

  • Best Chili
  • Best Nontraditional Chlli
  • Best Chili Hat
  • Best Chili Presentation

This year's chili cookoff is at Fort Yargo State Park.  Note that while the event is free, you must either have a GA State Parks parking pass or pay $5 for a one day parking pass.  We are in Group Shelter "B".

When you mark your "Will Attend", please indicate if you plan to bring some CHILI!!!

Note: A special rememberence for Ed 'Rebel' Handler who started this great tradition back in 2006
